Welcome from the PYP Coordinator
Dear Parents/ Legal Guardians,
Welcome to the Canadian International School – Amman, a supportive and nurturing learning environment where all learners are encouraged to thrive and reach their full potential. As a PYP authorised school, we aim at establishing an inclusive and diverse school culture where students connect to others by first establishing understanding of oneself, taking pride in their own culture and heritage, and at the same time showing respect and understanding for other perspectives, cultures and languages. In the Primary Years, learners will come to value and perceive how differences can enrich life, with the awareness that the world is much larger than the community in which we live.
Adopting the Primary Years Programme means that students are given the opportunity to make meaning and refine their understanding of the self and the world at large. The transdisciplinary approach of the programme is designed to enhance teaching and learning through a trans-disciplinary framework that addresses core human commonalities and issues of local and global significance. The IB PYP is a programme of holistic education that aims to encompass all aspects of personal learning and growth. The PYP programme promotes collaborative relationships at all levels within a learning community and takes learning beyond the confines of the classroom. This holistic approach empowers learners to become critical thinkers who identify as global citizens and who will play an integral role in promoting peace and advancing their communities and the world.
In the PYP, students are motivated to become lifelong learners who think for themselves and reflect on their own learning through an inquiry-led approach. At CIS, we focus on inculcating a culture where students learn how to demonstrate respect for themselves and the learning community, the society, the world, and our planet at large.
CIS will continue to support the contributions of all stakeholders – be it students, teachers, staff, and parents or legal guardians. As parents, you will be provided with opportunities on how to support your children through a variety of information sessions and workshops, in order to gain a better understanding of the school’s curriculum and approaches to teaching and learning.
Welcome to the CIS family and we look forward to working with you to make a difference in your child’s life.
